Review: Chem Scout Vape Cart by Cresco

1

Summer is almost here, which means I’m reaching more and more for the convenience of a vape cart while out and about. Picked up at Sunnyside Champaign, my latest sample, Chem Scout Live Resin Vape from Cresco, scratched my recent itch for classic genetics with its ChemDawg parentage.

Chem Scout is an indica-leaning hybrid cross of ChemDawg and Girl Scout Cookies. This oil tested at 74.05% THC. Cresco’s classic half-gram cartridge is a cylindrical affair with a clear mouthpiece, branded glass tank, and a small blue band indicating the cart’s indica status. Deep amber colored, the oil inside was thick with a heavy viscosity that kept it from freely flowing even when the vape was hot. The vape ran well at any of the power settings on multiple batteries, producing a flavorful hit no matter the voltage setting.

The top note was a roasted herb blend of hot thyme, basil, and cut grass that I’ve found in most Cresco Liquid Live Resin carts. The center of the flavor profile was the real star of the show with a roasted creamy-caramel note, followed closely by a tangy kick of fresh mustard and lemon peel. The tangy lemon/mustard tone at the finish was the stickiest of the flavors, clinging to the palate for a while after each hit.

A fast acting high, Chem Scout provided a calm and worry free headspace after a couple long pulls. My focus and energy started to wane by the 10-minute mark making for a relaxed but distractible headspace. The physical side was stronger than anticipated, a strong pull of tired weight tugged at my arms and core for the better part of half an hour after each sesh. There was also a long tail to the entire experience in the form of a hazy headspace that stuck around long after vaping.
