Review: Chimera Moondust Infused Shake by Kaviar
While Kaviar was one of the first to bring moonrocks to the Illinois market, the label’s pre-ground follow up, moondust, is entering a much more competitive infused-shake scene. I recently stopped at Cloud9 Champaign to pick up an eighth of Kaviar Chimera Moondust Infused Shake to review.
Chimera is an indica-leaning hybrid cross of White Truffle and The Creature. This batch of infused shake tested at 22.367% THC, 14.158% THCa, and 38.208% total cannabinoids. The Moondust is a three-way blend of flower shake, butane extracted oil, and kief.

A blanket of deep forest-green finely-ground shake was dotted with slightly chunkier pieces of flower-encrusted oil. The black of the oil was barely visible on the surface but revealed itself when a piece was split. The finely-ground flower and kief left a dustiness on my fingertips, but this was quickly taken over by the resinous stickiness of the oil chunks. The effect became more pronounced the longer the shake was handled
Hints of diesel, lemongrass, and fresh cut cedar provided a sharp-opening aroma suspended over a heavier body of buttery biscuit dough, cooking caramel, pine forest, and musk. On the palate, the richer tones of cedar, pine forest, and musk dominated initially, but as the bowl burned down, the sweeter caramel and dough notes came through. The flavor left no lingering presence after exhale.
Chimera Infused Shake was heavy, immediately inducing a tiring-body pressure and a quick-acting halt to my train of thought. Pressure was initially focused on my forehead and upper arms but quickly moved outward to the rest of my body before transforming into a warming wave of full body muscle relaxation.
