Review: Wildberry Guava Agua Fresca Shot by CQ

0

CQ was one of the first in Illinois’ infused-shot market, and the label has been steadily adding flavors since debut. I recently spotted CQ Wildberry Guava Agua Fresca Infused Shot at Parkway Tilton and picked one up to review.

CQ Wildberry Guava Agua Fresca Infused Shot is a 2.2-fluid-ounce shot with 25mg of THC. The ingredients were water, cane sugar, cannabis extract, blackberry juice concentrate, natural flavor, citric acid, malic acid, sodium benzoate, potassium sorbate, EDTA, and terpenes.

The 2.2-once shot was more voluminous than a bar shot but no bigger than a standard gas-station energy shot. It was easy to drink in one gulp. The liquid itself was a milky, slightly yellow, off white, similar to the interior of a banana. The easy drinking mouthfeel wasn’t much heavier than water and was cleared from the tongue quickly.

A very sweet and heavy mix of artificial blue raspberry and guava candy hit my nose as soon as I opened the bottle. The flavor was less direct than the strong aroma with a touch of the artificial berry carrying through at the very front but quickly being wiped away by a dense bitter note. Luckily the entire profile was gone from the palate as soon as the shot was swallowed.

The shot went to work fast with noticeable effects less than 15 minutes after drinking and a full peak hitting by the half hour. A tight headband pressure at my crown and brow was accompanied by waves of tingles cascading down from my neck to core. My mood brightened and anxiety lessened, and my thoughts slowed and headspace cleared. CQ labels the Wildberry Guava Agua Fresca as an indica, but the clear mind and tingling body effects struck me as a middle ground hybrid and was easy to fit into the middle of the day.
