5 Things to Watch Out For When Buying Your First Bong – Cannabis Hemp Blog
If you are getting into smoking tobacco or cannabis, then you will likely have to buy a bong at some point in time. Only then can you fully enjoy the effect of the smoke. However, choosing the right bong can be pretty hard for a first timer since you may not know what features to look out for.
To help you pick the perfect bong, the below tips should come in handy.
Suitability
The first question you should ask yourself when buying bongs is whether it is suitable for you. Just because you like a bong does not mean that you will be comfortable using it. As such, two things to watch out for is the size and portability of the bongs. In terms of size, it should not be too big that you have difficulty handling it. But if you plan to use it discreetly, then a smaller, more portable dong will be suitable for you.
Material
As far as the material of the bong is concerned, you will usually have three options = glass, ceramic, and plastic. Of these, the glass bong is the most popular one since it looks clean when using. Ceramic bongs are likely to be very delicate, and may even break more easily than some of the glass models. And if you are looking for the cheapest option, then plastic bongs are your best bet. However, you should keep in mind that plastic models are not known for their durability.
Thickness of Glass
If you have decided to buy a glass bong, then you also need to check out its thickness. The thicker the glass, the longer it will last. A glass thickness of about 3 mm is considered to be thin, while anything in the range of 5 to 7 mm is considered so hard that it will be difficult to break. But under normal circumstances, you won’t need such a thick glass. Instead, a bong with a thickness of around 3.55 mm should be perfect for you.
Percolators
You will also have to decide on the type of percolator you need for using the bong. And in this regard, you have to look out for two things in a percolator. The first is the amount of drag provided by the percolator as you pull the cannabis smoke. Secondly, check the filtration and smoothness it offers. However, remember that you don’t actually need a percolator to use a bong. But if you can spend a bit extra, then it is highly recommended that you get bongs with a percolator. Just make sure that there are not too many percolators in the bong.
Size Of The Joints
The last thing to look out for is the joint sizes of the bong. Typically, you will have to choose from the 14 mm and 18 mm varieties.
Whichever ones you choose, do make sure that you only buy a bong which has same joint sizes. As such, if you end up breaking a down stem or slide, you can use similar components and the bong will function perfectly.
