Review: Grape Cream Cake by PC Nursery

Despite well-known cultivars, such as Grape Ape, classic grape flavors are still underrepresented on current dispensary menus. I recently found Grape Cream Cake by Pharmacann’s test label, PC Nursery, at Verilife Romeoville and picked up an eighth to review.

Grape Cream Cake is an indica leaning hybrid cross of Wedding Crasher and Grape Pie. This batch of flower tested at 0.57% Delta 9 THC, and 18.92% THCa. Terpenes were 2% of the total weight with β-myrcene, β-caryophyllene, and α-humulene being the most prevalent.

Four chunky and fluffy flowers sported a bright lime-green color with lavender sugar leaf remnants adding splashes of dark color. The trichomes were milky throughout and provided a hashy sandiness to the feel. The fluffy texture carried well, even through a fine grind.

Sweet and fruity at the outset, a combination of strawberry jam, artificial grape, and heavy cream created a sweet initial aroma. Underneath the sweet top layer, a natural earthy mix of dry grass and black pepper worked together at the finish. The flavor balanced the sweet fruit and earthy grass notes equally, creating a roasted peppered berry flavor that was complex and interesting. Despite the complexity, the flavor had little staying power after the exhale.

Grape Cream Cake was what we used to refer to as “creeper” with a slow-building quality that eventually reached a tipping point. A hazy awareness window was paired with a tingling and euphoric body buzz. The combination took me out of the moment but dissolved my worries, making Grape Cream Cake a good choice for evening relaxation.
