Review: Fruit Plunge Sugar Free Gummies by Daze Off
One question I received many times as a budtender was “what edible can I get without sugar,” and it pained me to have to limit consumers to a short list of products. It’s especially frustrating considering so many companies market products focused on the idea of “wellness.” Daze Off has broken from the trend, offering a new sugar-free option in the form of the label’s Fruit Plunge gummies.
Daze Off Fruit Plunge gummies come as a 10-pack of gummies with 10mg of THC per piece. The ingredients are maltitol syrup, isomalt, pectin, glycerin, sucralose, citric acid, natural flavors, sodium citrate, cannabis oil, MCT oil, and fruit juice for color.
Ten translucent-crimson circular gummies (each with the circumference of a quarter and a thickness of one-third inch) stuck together in the bag. The surface was smooth, and the texture was soft, almost pliable, providing a juicy mouthfeel.
The scent hit my nose as soon as I broke the seal with a thick syrupy-sweet fruit-punch note. The flavor was more complex with the sweet fruit-punch note appearing initially, although less strong and syrupy than in the aroma, and a blend of muted berry tones with a bitter finish. The artificial cherry and finishing bitter flavors had a lingering effect, staying present on the palate for several minutes after each gummy.
The effects were a familiar affair with a slow building hour-long onset that relaxed me mentally and physically as it built. The mental experience was playful, creative, and even at its peak, left my energy level unchanged, making it a good daytime edible option. A warming sensation in my muscles subdued my chronic pain, most notably in my back, where I felt the most relief. Ultimately, these gummies were almost indistinguishable from a standard edible, a real feat for a sugar-free option.
