Review: Rubber Legs by Kaviar

0

Kaviar was the first craft license to get on shelves in the state, kicking off a slow and steady expansion of the market that still continues. The label continues to add new strains to its portfolio, including Rubber Legs. I recently stopped into StarBuds Burbank and picked up an eighth of Rubber Legs to review. To celebrate the recent craft market expansion, News Joint Events is set to host more than 30 craft brands at the Illinois Craft Showcase 12-7 p.m. Sept. 7 at Molly’s Joint.

Rubber Legs is a hybrid cross of Gary Payton and Scotty 2 Hotty. This batch of flower tested at 0.1% CBD and 29.05% THCa.

A handful of small popcorn sized buds carried a lime-green base tone with highlights of lavender purple at the tops and wiry rust-red hairs intertwined. The trichome layer carried a milkiness throughout, reflecting the light at the edges of buds. The small buds were very tightly dried and required some force to push through my grinder. Despite this, the center still carried a surprising fresh bounceback when pinched and burned smoothly after being ground.

The unique aroma inside the jar provided a chemical heavy combination of hot vinyl and rubber, diesel, and spicy chili pepper on the front of the profile. The back end turned toward a more classical combination of warm cinnamon and cut cedar. The unique aroma translated directly into the flavor profile with a sour front-end punch of diesel and chemical vinyl with the cut cedarwood following closely to provide some warming familiarity and a clean finish.

Rubber Legs is listed as a hybrid but hit me as an indica with a strong brow and headband pressure setting in almost immediately. This spread outward to become a heavy body pressure that eventually left me couchlocked and tired near the peak. The mental buzz wasn’t as heavy with a calm mindfulness, helping me to focus despite the strong body effect. Overall, the very unique flavor profile made this one to explore, even if the heavier than advertised effect profile relegated it to evening and night use.
