Review: Super Cherries by Lobo

0

Lobo has been offering hemp wrapped blunts for a while, and now the brand has expanded into its own labeled flower. I recently picked up from Parkway Dispensary all the strains from the new release to review, starting with Super Cherries. News Joint Events is set to host Lobo as one of more than 30 craft brands offering samples at the Illinois Craft Showcase 12-7 p.m. Sept. 7 at Molly’s Joint.

Super Cherries is a hybrid cross of unknown origin. This batch of flower tested at 0.45% THC, 20.42% THCa, and 21.93% total cannabinoids.

Two larger flower tops made up the bulk of the weight with four smaller-than-popcorn pieces making up the difference. Closely trimmed with a very dark purple, almost black color throughout, the flowers carried a layer of trichomes that glittered in the light just at the transition from clear to milky. The flowers were very dense, providing almost no bounce back when squeezed and leaving a stickiness on the fingers.

A sweet blend of cherry candy, apricot, cashews, wildflower honey, cinnamon, and cacao nibs greeted my nose upon opening the jar. The flavor profile shared the sweetness at the top with a mix of artificial grape and green bell pepper on the inhale with notes of wildflowers, dark chocolate and cooking barbecue on exhale. The sweet portion had very little staying power, disappearing from the palate after exhale but the dark chocolate tone remained present even after the bowl was finished.

Super Cherries had a layered effect profile, initially inducing a hit of energy, positivity, and talkativeness before leaving me calmer and more focused on the back half. The muscle relaxation was consistent for the duration of experience and notably effective, quickly relieving some of the chronic pain points in my back.

The mental up and down was even more pronounced at higher doses with a gregarious front end and introspective crash on the back end that left me tired. Overall, Super Cherries delivered a dense flavor and very effective physical relief profile leaving me excited to try the rest of the new Lobo line.
