Grow Journal: White Truffle – Illinois News Joint

1

During my last entry for News Joint Grow Journal, I delved into my recent run of the original cut of Bruce Banner. For this journal entry, I delved into the original cut of White Truffle, a phenotype of GG #4 and Peanut Butter Breath.

I received my White Truffle as a freshly cut six-inch-tall piece floating in a rooting solution. The plant rooted quickly in soil and began a vigorous and highly symmetrical veg cycle. The symmetrical growth pattern was easy to train, returning visually thicker branches after a targeted bend and consistently producing similar sized clones from each side of the plant.

The entire cycle was run under my Growers Republic M780 Grow Light, a larger lamp than I had seen the plant flowered under before and the payoff was obvious. My only applications during the run were weekly treatments of Prime Superior as a foliar spray and FishShit added to the water. The rest of the nutrients were supplied by my home blend of organic living soil.

White Truffle kept a straight and steady veg profile before kicking off a dramatic stretch phase that seemed to add visually noticeable length each time the light was turned. Both the vegging plant and the flowers maintained a surprisingly uniform turf green, further brightened as the tall trichomes whitened with maturity. The aroma in the grow room became richer and more savory as the flowers matured, producing a blend of hot gas and rubber, followed by undertones of fresh citrus, skunk, cocoa, and forest floor.

I chopped on day 70 and cured for 18 days. The flowers were tall stretched out colas at the top and small rounded buds underneath the main canopy with a tight density throughout the entire bud. The aroma after the cure unlocked fruitier top end notes I hadn’t noticed during the grow, including fresh berry and more direct citrus peel, but the rich blend of hot chemical gas, cooking meat, skunk, and soil remained as a savory body and finish. The flavor was dominated entirely to the rich and savory portion with hot gas and barbecue on the inhale while the hit of skunkiness appeared at the exhale alongside freshly turned soil, cedar, and even more hot rubber.

White Truffle induced a fast-moving wave of body heaviness that sapped my energy and motivation as it progressed. Wiping away both my muscle pain and chronic low-level anxiety, White Truffle had an exceptionally “medical” feel with its heavy-hitting effect profile. White Truffle could disrupt my day if smoked too early, leaving my mind a completely blank slate and all but guaranteed an early bedtime if consumed after dark.
