Illinois sets record for cannabis items sold in 2024
The Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation finally announced Friday recreational cannabis sales totals for April 2024. Illinois sold a record-high number of cannabis items in April 2024, while April sales totals dipped from March’s second-highest monthly total since legalization.
Dispensaries in Illinois sold a 2024-record 4,140,350 cannabis items, and April 2024 monthly totals reached $144,511,466.85. April in-state resident sales totaled $111,504,894.92, and out-of-state resident sales totals reached $33,006,571.93. During first two years of legalization in Illinois, April and the 420 holidays boosted monthly totals to outperform the surrounding months. For the last two years, April totals have seen a drop compared to March and May, and although March sales totals outpaced April, the amount of total cannabis items sold has increased in April.
