Review: Acai Gelato X Shelby by Cannect Wellness
One favorite effect of an organized legal market is the speed in which high-quality genetics are now spread. Before legalization, years could go by before running across favorite or desired strains. That timeline has significantly shortened with cultivators such as Cannect Wellness tapping into strong genetics. Acai Gelato X Sherb, bred by Seed Junky, is one of the latest strains to come down this pipeline, so I picked up an eighth to review.
Açaí Gelato X Sherb is an indica-leaning hybrid cross of Acai Gelato (Sunset Sherbet and Thin Mint Girl Scout Cookies) and Sherb Bx1 (Girl Scout Cookies and Pink Panties). This batch of flower tested at 1.357% THC, 25.334% THCa, and 27.491% total cannabinoids.
Five barley larger-than-popcorn flowers carried an olive-green base tone with a mix of thinly bunched-orange hairs and bright-turf-green and deep-purple sugar-leaf pieces adding some variety to the visual profile. Large solidly milky-colored-trichome heads were visible with the naked eye. Spongy and light in the hand, the buds ran through the grinder without much effort, producing a fluffy grind.
Opening the jar released a rich layered blend of heavy cream, sweet berries, artificial grape, and magnolia blossoms at the top, with deeper notes of cocoa, cooking butter, caramel, and cut lumber carrying the finish. On the palate the heavy cream, berry, and butter notes worked together to evoke a rich berry-pastry flavor initially, but the warm-cut wood flavors of cedar and pine soon followed as a lasting finish.
A warming, relaxing wave of muscle relaxation started to flow outward from a center point in my chest roughly 5-minutes after my first bowl. An interior calm helped to organize my thoughts, while my exterior awareness sharpened, pulling my attention fully into the moment. My baseline anxiety completely disappeared at the peak, and a small lift in energy left me in a peaceful, positive, almost meditative flow-like state. Overall, Acai Gelato X Sherb was a flavorful cut with an anxiety killing effect profile that delivered a calm, clearheaded focus.
