Review: Blu Bomb Pop by Cresco
Despite reviewing more than 500 products, a great strain name still catches my eye. Cresco’s Blu Bomb Pop strain recently grabbed my attention when I spotted it on Sunnyside Champaign’s menu.
Blu Bomb Pop is a hybrid cross of Candy Rain and Blulato. This batch of flower tested at 0.52% THC, 25.7% THCa, and 26.22% total cannabinoids.
Five chunky closely trimmed flowers (three larger with two smaller popcorn pieces) carried a dark color with splashes of deep olive and royal purple. Thick orange hairs curled inwards, becoming small clumps hiding beneath the light trichome layer that had just started to transition from milky to amber. These buds were tightly dried with a consistently dense texture from surface to core.
An inhale from the jar provided a layered aroma of candied lemongrass, pine, limejuice, raisin, and a finish of wet mossy ground. The flavor lost the sweet overtones becoming savory and herbal as the pine and wet soil notes came to the front of the profile. The flavor was rich but didn’t have much stickiness and was cleared from the palate with the exhale.
Blu Bomb Pop struck as a center spectrum hybrid more than the indica label on the jar. An ease of muscle relaxation started in my chest, blossoming outward as time passed. The headspace was a directionless calm that relieved my generalized anxiety and kept my energy level relatively flat. The physical muscle relaxation and accompanying pain relief outlasted the mental buzz by at least an hour after every sesh. Leaving me relaxed but unable to focus, Blu Bomb Pop was best as an afternoon break when work wasn’t a priority.
