Review: Cadillac Rainbows by NEZ
Many of the craft growers coming online have hit the ground running, releasing new strains at a steady pace. NEZ quickly followed up the brand’s initial releases with a list of new genetics. I’ve been eager to get my hands on them since I first found out and finally secured one-gram samples of a couple strains, starting with Cadillac Rainbows.
Cadillac Rainbows is a hybrid cross of Pure Michigan and Runtz. This batch of flower tested at 0.05% CBDa, 0.95% THC, 28.25% THCa, and 29.25% total cannabinoids. The indicated terpenes were limonene, β-myrcene, and β-caryophyllene.
Densely dried, two small-popcorn nugs carried contrasting colors of deep royal purple against bright turf green and a few bright fire-orange hairs dried into the surface. Milky with visible heads, the trichome frost brought some brightness to the overall color profile. Handling these flowers left a gritty hashy feeling on the finger that broke down into a greasiness by the heat from my hand.
The aroma inside the bag was a pungent blend of roasted meat, dried tobacco, hot rubber, and cheddar with a lighter, slightly sweeter note of fresh carrot cleaning up the finish. The richness of the aroma translated on to the palate with the same roasted fat, cheddar, and classical tobacco tones appearing at the front of the flavor profile, while the sweet carrot note became stronger, evoking fresh cherry, lavender, and lemon blossom. The flavor was very sticky, and I could still taste the roasted meat and tobacco tones for well over fifteen minutes after smoking.
Cadillac Rainbows built slowly over fifteen minutes, steadily elevating my mood and bringing a tingling euphoric sensation to my core. The positive and optimistic headspace wasn’t accompanied by any shift in energy, which made Cadillac Rainbows a good fit for anytime I needed a mood boost. A case of munchies was also attached to the backend of the experience, piquing my hunger right as my mood began to return to baseline. Overall, Cadillac Rainbows was a savory strain with a strong feel-good aspect.
