Review: Cherry Stomper by Ivy Hall

0

Even as the end of the summer starts to come into view, I’m still on the hunt for great summer flavors. Ivy Hall’s recent collaboration with Aerīz has yielded some interesting fruity strains, including Cherry Stomper. I recently stopped into Ivy Hall Peoria and picked up an eighth to sample.

Cherry Stomper is a hybrid cross of Cherry Pie and Grape Stomper. This batch of flower tested at 0.82% THC, 24.56% THCa, and 25.38% total cannabinoids. The indicated terpenes were β-caryophyllene, β-myrcene , α-pinene, linalool

Six popcorn-sized flowers carried a uniform bright green at the core with splashes of deeper turf green, pinks, and dark purples. A few thin and wiry-orange hairs were curled into the surface, tangled in a dense and completely milky trichome layer with large visible bulbous tops. Spongy, with a slow bounceback after a pinch, the buds still carried a notable moisture content but left a sandy hash style residue on my hands after handling.

The aroma was bright and tart, leading with a blend of under ripe strawberry and blueberry, fresh pine sap, roasting cinnamon, and cut lemongrass. The tangy scent was dense and lingered in the nose after an inhale. The flavor carried much of the same bright notes of under ripened berries and pine, but the exhale revealed a previously undetected note of sweet concord grape that cut through the rest of tart profile, providing the finish. The flavor was less “sticky” than the aroma and left a clean palate in its wake.

Cherry Stomper unlocked a cool headed mindspace that helped to lessen distractions and let me focus on the task at hand. Despite the clear head, my energy levels started to fall on the backend of the experience, and eventually I “steered” the hybrid nature by adding a cup of coffee to the sesh. A warming buzz spread throughout my body with the heaviest sensations focused in my chest. This wasn’t as long lasting as the mental calm. Overall, Cherry Stomper delivered an extremely flexible hybrid-style experience that I could have enjoyed anytime.
