Review: Durban Poison Vape Cart by High 5ive
Illinois dispensary menus are adding labels at a faster pace than ever as new craft growers and infusers come online each month. High 5ive is one of the latest brands to join the market, and I recently picked up a selection of the label’s new products, starting with the Durban Poison Vape Cart. News Joint Events is set to host High 5ive as one of more than 30 craft brands offering samples at the Illinois Craft Showcase 12-7 p.m. Sept. 7 at Molly’s Joint.
High 5ive Durban Poison Vape Cart is a distillate-based oil infused with cannabis derived terpenes. This vape cart tested at 0.151% CBD and 88.91% THC.
A classic metal coil with a glass tank and white ceramic mouthpiece, the vape fit onto my array of batteries with ease. The oil inside was a transparent straw color with a dense viscosity that took some time to bubble up after each large hit. The vape handled the entire range of voltage settings on my battery, reliably producing a steady cloud and a consistent flavor profile at every power level.
The flavor was natural and tangy with notes of freshly pickled cucumber, lime peel, raw carrot, and celery seed at the top. The finish was very light with hints of dried mint and black tea. Notably absent was the unique terpinolene note characteristic of Durban Poison. The entire flavor experience was light, and the vapor left almost no trace after smoking, making this a good option for the discrete consumer.
A dazing head buzz set in quickly, derailing my train of thought and killing any ability to focus. My energy levels noticeably picked up and stayed that way for the next half hour. The physical sensations began right behind my eyes as a light pressure, before slowly moving into the rest of my body as coming and going waves of tingles. The mental haze cleared before the body buzz with a long-lasting sensation of all over lightness lasting well past an hour.
