Review: Lemon Cherry Gelato Pod by Select

0

Lemon Cherry Gelato has been popular outside of Illinois, which means our market should start seeing it sometime next year. Joking aside, the lack of cultivators growing this nationally popular strain has left me puzzled. Curaleaf’s Select brand has tapped into the strains’ notoriety by releasing an Elite Cliq Pod using a cured cannabis-derived terpene-blended oil. I recently picked up to review the pod at Curaleaf Weed Street.

Lemon Cherry Gelato is a three-way cross of Sunset Sherbert, Girl Scout Cookies, and an unknown third strain. The Lemon Cherry Gelato Cliq Pod is a 1-gram pod filled with a blend of distillate and cannabis derived terpenes. This pod tested at 81.34% THC and 86.72% total cannabinoids.

Select’s Cliq line has only one battery option for this pod. A thin, long rectangle with a small-rounded button near the center, the top of the Cliq battery is an open slot where the pod slid in with a satisfying click. The pod itself features a sizable visibility window for tracking the remaining transparent-amber oil. There is a USB-C charging port on the bottom, a five-press on/off function, a two-press preheat function, and three different power settings.

There was a sweet-lemon top note at every power level. An accompanying candied peach flavor was only detectable at the highest voltage. Underneath these fruity top notes, a blend of Runtz style candy and heavy cream appeared quickly before being washed away by a strong roasted-herbal combination of hot oregano, basil, and black pepper. The entire profile left the palate with the exhale, leaving almost no trace on the tongue or the surrounding air making for a discreet vape.

A few strong pulls brought on a sense of mental peace, but also made me feel spacey and detached, unable to focus. My energy level remained the same as before the sesh, but the lack of focus left me playful yet unmotivated. The physical experience started with light tingles radiating from my core and peaked at higher doses with an all-over euphoric buzz. The effects lasted longer than expected, with the mental calm and euphoric tingles persisting well past the 45-minute mark.
