Review: Romulan Vape Cart by High 5ive
Some brands start slow by offering only a few flavors for the initial release, but craft infuser High 5ive has come to market with a huge list of different flavors for the label’s first run of vape carts. I recently had the opportunity to pick up a few selections from the label’s first drop, including Romulan. News Joint Events is set to host High 5ive as one of the more than 30 craft brands offering samples at the Illinois Craft Showcase 12-7 p.m. Sept. 7 at Molly’s Joint.
High 5ive Romulan Vape Cart is filled with a distillate-based oil infused with cannabis derived terpenes. This vape cart tested at 0.29% CBD and 87.59%THC.

The standard metal coil and glass tank cart offered the advantage of being compatible with the long list of 510-thread batteries I already had on hand. The white ceramic mouthpiece stood out against the honey-amber oil, which, even at cooler temperatures, flowed freely with a viscosity similar to maple syrup. The entire tank burned smoothly without any issues.
The flavor carried an earthy and savory blend of mushroom, dried thyme and oregano, wet stone, and hot leather. The finish provided a touch of sweet lemon that cut through the rest of the profile as the lone sweet note. At higher temperatures and longer hits, the sweet lemon note became stronger and more dominant on the palate. The notes of dried herbs and leather were quite sticky, clinging to the palate after exhale and leaving a lingering scent in the air after a multi-hit sesh.
The Romulan Vape initiated a tingling chest buzz that spread outward to the rest of my body as the experience peaked. A substantially slowed train of thought was accompanied by a peaceful calm, leaving me stress free but slightly dazed for roughly half an hour post vaping. The end of the experience was marked each time by a particularly voracious case of the munchies, and vaping on an empty stomach led to terrible nutritional decisions.
