Review: San Fernando Valley OG Blunt by Lobo

1

One of the categories finally getting some real attention in Illinois is the prerolled blunt. Nothing speaks to this more than the 1937 Group tie-in brand, Lobo. Focused entirely on blunts, the brand recently released a San Fernando Valley OG blunt, so I stopped at Parkway Dispensary in Tilton and picked one up to review.

The Lobo San Fernando Valley OG came as a 1g preroll with a hemp wrap. This batch of flower tested at 0.67% THC, 24.963% THCa, and 26.053% total cannabinoids.

Wrapped in a mocha brown hemp wrap, the blunt had a similar conical flare at the end, like a standard preroll with a small folded piece of paper hiding a bright green flower at the end. A small glass tip acted as a filter and helped to keep the structure consistent. The blunt burned down slower and more evenly than a standard paper preroll without any prework.

The hemp wrap carried a roasted cedar and pine tone that accentuated the pine note in the flower but otherwise dominated the aroma. The flavor was much more flower centric with notes of lemon peel and fresh basil creating the top of the profile on the inhale but the same woody cedar and pine on the exhale. The entire flavor profile, flower notes included, was extremely sticky and clung to the palate for a long time even after the blunt was put out.

SFV OG is listed as a sativa-dominant hybrid but the effects felt much more center spectrum. A hazy headspace descended rather quickly, sapping my focus but relieving some low level anxiety along the way. The body effects were much slower, finally providing some muscle relaxation by the 15-minute mark and unfolding into a stronger pressure focused in my core as the experience reached the peak at the half-hour post-blunt mark. he Overall, the smaller size made this best as a personal blunt ,and the middle ground effects were a good fit for anytime.
