Review: Sour Lemon Gummies by Good News

36

It’s no secret we’re big fans of lemon-heavy sativa-leaning strains here at Illinois News Joint. But does that translate to edibles? Good News has released Celebrate Sour Lemon Sativa Gummies, so I picked up a sample from Mystic Greenz Decatur to review.

Good News Sour Lemon Gummies come as a 20-pack of gummies with 5mg of THC per gummy and 100mg total THC per bag. The ingredients are sugar, glucose syrup, pectin, citric acid, malic acid, tartaric acid, potassium citrate, natural flavors, fruit and vegetable juice, VESIsorb delivery system, and cannabis oil.

Bright lemon yellow with a light but visible coarse sugar coating, each half-circle gummy was just shorter than an inch at the widest place with a design that evoked a fresh lemon slice. Each gummy was dense with a gumdrop-style texture that was easy to chew. The small size made it easy to eat more than one at a time.

The Sour Lemon gummies were much more sweet than sour with a heavy sugary note on the front end, cutting through the tangy artificial lemon that created the main body of the flavor. The finish carried the classic herbal bitterness of cannabis oil that clung to the palate.

Good News uses a nanoencapsulation technology that accelerates edible onset and creates an experience much closer to smoking than eating cannabinoids. After a 10-minute wait, the effects were noticeable with the full peak hitting by the half-hour mark. Initially a tight headband pressure set in around my crown and eyes. A boost of energy helped to lighten the physical pressure and my mood, putting a smile on my face and reducing my background anxiety. The fast acting formulation had a sharper peak than a standard edible but the entire experience was over by the hour mark, returning me to a clearheaded calm.
