Super Boof by Northern Heights – Illinois News Joint
While Super Boof has been around for a while now, 2023 was the real breakout year for the funny-named strain. Northern Heights by Oregonix included the cut as part of the labels first strain drops, and it immediately grabbed my attention. I stopped into nuEra Champaign and picked up an eighth to sample.
Super Boof is an indica-learning hybrid cross of Black Cherry Punch and Tropicanna Cookies, originally created by California’s Blockhead. This batch of flower tested at 0.99% CBCa, 1.59% CBGa, 0.39% Delta 9 THC, 34.05% THCa, and 37.01% total cannabinoids. Terpenes were 1.3% of the total weight with limonene, β-myrcene, and β-caryophyllene being the heaviest.

One larger cola, just smaller than my thumb, was accompanied by a handful of smaller popcorn-sized flowers, a packaging trend Northern Heights has maintained throughout this first batch of strain releases. A bright lime-green undertone peeked out from beneath large splotches of bright purple, clumps of dried fire-orange hairs, and a milky-trichome frost. Springy to the touch, these buds left a light stickiness on the tip of the finger after handling.
The aroma inside the bag was widely varied with notes of sweet artificial grape, lemon, orange, cherry, currant, and jasmine floating atop a rich base of hot petrol, rubber, soap, and pine. After an initial hit of fresh pine, the palate leaned towards the sweeter part of the spectrum with lemon, cherry, tangerine, and black currant notes being the standouts.
Super Boof was heavier than I anticipated, inducing a wave of muscle relaxation, pain relief, and a hazy-mental state that became foggier as time passed. At the half hour mark, my energy levels were down, and I found myself nodding off as my eyelids became heavier.
After the tiring peak, Super Boof kept me relaxed both mentally and physically for the better part of two hours as my energy level returned to normal, and my awareness widened back to stasis.
