The Devil’s Food Cake Mix by West Town Bakery – Illinois News Joint

44

I love when companies try something out of the ordinary, even more so when it’s in the gummy and chocolate overfilled-edible space. Cannabis Infused from West Town Bakery recently collaborated with Idyll to create a line of infused baking mixes that instantly caught my attention. I recently reviewed the brand’s Infused Brownie Mix, and this time I returned to Okay Cannabis to pick up the Infused Devil’s Food Cake Mix to sample.

West Town Bakery’s Devil’s Food Cake Mix is infused with 50mg of total THC with 4.1mg per serving when cut into 12 pieces. The ingredients are granulated sugar, gluten free flour, unsweetened cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.

The mix came as a single bag with an enclosed baking tray and required the addition of ¾ cup canola oil, ¾ cup warm water, ¾ cup of freshly brewed coffee, and a teaspoon of white vinegar. The mix was easy to make: mix wet ingredients together, mix into the dry ingredients, and bake for 45 minutes. Same as the Brownie Mix from West Town Bakery, if you have ever used a premade boxed cake mix, the process will be familiar.

After 45 minutes, a dense cake with a fudgy center was ready for frosting, but I dug into a piece without adornment. The chocolate came through clearly, and the classic flavor wouldn’t have tipped off the uniformed that this cake was both vegan and gluten free.

The low dose in a large package approach of splitting a 50mg infusion into 12 servings made the Devils Food Cake Mix best fit for a party or 5-plus for dinner. At just over 4mg in a relatively large piece of cake, the dose was good for a small relaxing head change by the 30-minute mark.

A couple pieces of cake back-to-back induced an all over tingling sensation that lasted for a couple hours. The Devil’s Food Cake Mix was an interesting change from the traditional edible, easy to make, and a fun way to bring a bit of cannabis to a party. For more Illinois News Joint reviews, visit here.
